The Stress-Reducing Power of Tiny Wins

Dear friend,

Tiny wins are so important, especially for parents.

Some of my recent tiny wins:

  • My 4-year-old brushed his own teeth without any prompting. (!)
  • During a play date at a new friend’s house, my son was offered a snack of delicious pastries. He voluntarily paused, turned to the friend, and said we should put away these toys before we eat. (!!)
  • My daughter made some new friends at school, discovered they have a shared interest, and organized a club for them to pursue it together. (!!!)

Acknowledging small wins — when I remember to do it — makes me feel great.

Did you know that gratitude reduces stress?

Gratitude allows you to experience pleasure and contentment in the context of your current circumstances — even when you don’t love the current circumstances (such as, I don’t know, transitioning to Daylight Savings Time, grrrrr).

Gratitude is a shortcut to present moment awareness and enjoyment.

I hope you’ll take a moment, now, to recognize your own recent successes, no matter how small.

You deserve it.

What tiny wins have you had lately? (Send me a note!)

Sleep well,
Nora

What Do You Want?

It’s not that everyone wants more. It’s that everyone wants to feel they are doing better than others.
